Human Calculators

Shakuntala Devi (Nov 4, 1929 – April 21, 2013) of Bangalore India, figured out cube root of 61,629,875 as 395 and seventh root of 17,859,379 as 15, mentally, even before Arthur Jensen, Prof of Psychology UofC Berkeley could write down the numbers in 1988. She demonstrated her mental skills as early as 6 years of age.

Scott Flansburg (1963) was named “Fastest Human Calculator) by Guinnes Book Of Records in 2001 and 2003. He serves as host and ambassador for World Math Day.

Alexis Lemaire (1980) French won world record in 2004 for calculating 13th root of long numbers in 77 seconds.
Willem Klein (1912 – 1986) Dutch math whiz won world record for calculating 73rd root of 500 digit number in two minutes.
